  28. OVERVIEW
  29. ========
  30.  
  31. DTSetup installs DragText version 2.0 and enables the 6-week free
  32. trial of DragText's Extended features for new users.  It can be used
  33. later to uninstall DragText.

  35. A list of the files included in the archive file (drgtxt20.zip)
  36. appears at the end of this file.

  41. INSTALL
  42. ========

  44. The main window displays your options for installing DragText.
  45.  
  46.  
  47. Install Paths
  48. -------------
  49.  
  50. The default Source path is the directory containing DTSetup.
  51. DTSetup expects to find all of its files in this directory.
  52.  
  53. The default Destination path is a subdirectory on your boot
  54. drive named \DRGTXT20.  You can change this to any new or
  55. existing directory, including the source directory.
  56.  
  57. Note:  DTSetup can only create one new subdirectory.
  58.  
  59.  
  60. Program Objects
  61. ---------------
  62.  
  63. DTSetup will optionally create a program object to run DragText and
  64. place it in your Startup or Desktop folders.  If you choose both,
  65. the original will go in Startup and a shadow will be placed on the
  66. Desktop.
  67.  
  68. Note:  If your Startup folder contains a program object for DragText
  69. that you created, you will have to delete it yourself because DTSetup
  70. has no way to identify it.

  73. Workplace Shell Classes
  74. -----------------------
  75.  
  76. You can choose not to install the two WPS classes that DragText uses
  77. to provide some of its Extended features.  To fully appreciate this
  78. version's features, it is suggested that you let them be installed.
  79. These classes can be installed or removed at any time using DragText's
  80. Options Notebook.

  83. Install
  84. -------
  85.  
  86. Press the Install button when you have made your choices. DTSetup will:
  87.  
  88. - rename the files and move them to the destination directory;
  89.   only the original zip file will remain in the source directory
  90. - create a program object for DragText
  91. - install the DTFile and DTClip classes and create a DTClip object
  92.   on the Desktop
  93. - place entries in your OS2.INI file to disable DragText for programs
  94.   that are known to be incompatible with it
  95. - display some general information about DragText, plus warnings about
  96.   that apply to your specific system
  97.  
  98. DTSetup will advise you if it completes successfully.  When you finish
  99. reading the information window, you can press its Close button and
  100. DTSetup will exit.
  101.  
  102. If DTSetup encounters errors, it will also advise you.  Pressing the
  103. message window's OK button will return you to the main window in
  104. case the error is something you can correct.
  105.  
  106. After a successful installation, you can load DragText v2.0 and use
  107. it immediately, provided you do not have an earlier version already
  108. running.  If so, you must remove the old version's program object
  109. from your Startup folder, then restart your system.
  110.  
  111. Be sure to run DragText a second time to display its Options notebook
  112. so you can become familiar with its many features and view its online
  113. help.  Have fun...

  118. UNINSTALL
  119. =========
  120.  
  121. To remove DragText partially or completely, press the Uninstall button
  122. on the main window.  The Uninstall window will appear, containing check
  123. boxes for the five items which DTSetup can remove from your system.
  124. Only those items which DTSetup can locate will be checked.  They are:
  125.  
  126. - Program Objects:  the program objects for DragText that DTSetup
  127.   created during installation.  If you deleted these and later created
  128.   new ones, DTSetup will not be able to locate them;  you will have to
  129.   delete them yourself
  130.  
  131. - Entries in OS2.INI:  this is always checked, even if there are none
  132.  
  133. - DTFile WPS class:  if you had this installed, DTSetup will deregister
  134.   this class.  It will probably remain in memory until you reboot.
  135.  
  136. - DTClip WPS class:  if you had this installed, DTSetup will deregister
  137.   this class and destroy the DTClip object it created.  It may remain
  138.   in memory until you reboot.

  140. - Program Files:  this includes all of DragText's executables and
  141.   documentation that are in the same directory as DTSetup.  If this
  142.   directory is empty after these deletions, it will be deleted too.
  143.   DTSetup will not delete any files that you have created nor will
  144.   it delete the original zip file.

  146. DTSetup will advise you whether it was successful in removing the
  147. items listed above.

  149. Note:  If you choose to delete all files, DTSetup will delete itself.
